RAFFLE IDEAS - CONSIDERING A "HALLOWEEN OUTSIDE DECORATION" RAFFLE

Saltsburg Free Library is looking for people interested in helping out! We would like to reinstitute the "Friends of the Library" and are also looking for new board members to replace some of us who have been serving for a long time.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY would be available to help out with fundraisers and activities held by the library. We only do 2 main fundraisers a year - THE CANAL DAY DUCK RACE and A NIGHT AT THE RACES! During the duck race we take turns selling the ducks, setting up for the race and picking out the winning ducks. The biggest need is to help the duck master, Dave Pizer put the chutes in place and breaking it down after the race. A Night at the Races involves taking bets on the horses, paying out to the winners, selling 50/50, and running the computer showing the races. Currently Josh Cunningham does a great job as our announcer but it never hurts to have an understudy. Before COVID we has story hour for the younger children but we have not starting having them yet. We are hoping to in the future.
As a BOARD MEMBER we meet once a month to discuss library matters. Normally the meetings are over in an hour. It is not a high pressure position and decisions are made on when to have fundraisers/activities, what books to order, go over librarian schedules, and review the finances. Just looking to get some new, younger blood to move the library forward.
LIBRARIANS are always needed. We cover our hours with volunteers but could definitely use more people so we do not have to overburden anyone and to give us some flexibility. On Tuesday & Thursday it is only 3 hours; Wednesday & Saturday are 4 hour shifts. Giving us 1 day a month even would be a great help.
Thank you for considering helping out and if interested contact the library (phone, email or stop in) or talk to one of the board members.

The Saltsburg Library Presentation by Andrea Niapas - an Investigation of Death Needs Answers / Let No Victim Be Forgotten was excellent for those who were able to attend. We would like to thank her and Mary Ann Clark (Dr. John Yelenic's cousin) for their informative and unbelievable account of the murder case. This along with other stories of cases that Andrea has been involved with made for a spell binding presentation. For more information vist Andrea's website deathneedsanswers.com
